        A low relief painting inspired by the legend of Huacachina, a small town in the oasis of the desert in Peru. Upon learning that her husband, an Incan warrior, had died, the young girl cried so much that a lagoon         formed and she slipped into its waters to become a mermaid. As the rhinestones sparkle like her tears, I imagine that instead, she turned into a butterfly of the desert.
